Abstract

This study explores the impact of narcissistic leadership on organizations through a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing psychological, biological, and Islamic value-based perspectives. The primary objective is to analyze how leaders with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) influence organizational culture, employee well-being, and decision-making effectiveness. The method employed is a literature review, analyzing various indexed academic sources, including scientific journals, reference books, and research reports. The findings indicate that narcissistic leadership tends to foster toxic work environments, elevate job-related stress, and reduce both productivity and innovation. Biologically, individuals with NPD exhibit certain genetic and neurochemical tendencies that affect emotional regulation and empathy. From an Islamic viewpoint, narcissistic leadership contradicts the principles of Islamic leadership, which emphasize empathy, justice, and social responsibility. The implications of this study underscore the need for more selective recruitment policies, ethics-based leadership training, and the implementation of organizational feedback mechanisms to mitigate the adverse effects of narcissistic leadership. Further recommendations include continued research in psychology and biology to deepen understanding of NPD’s impacts, as well as the development of more effective mitigation strategies. Accordingly, this study contributes to the effort to promote healthier, more productive, and ethically grounded leadership within organizations
