Abstract

This class action research aims to improve students' learning outcomes in the introduction of class X chemistry laboratory equipment through the application of learning based on the snake and ladder game. The research was carried out in two cycles with the Kemmis & McTaggart spiral model, involving students of Class X of SMA Taruna Tunas Bangsa Baturaja for the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Data collection was carried out through pre-tests and final tests of each cycle (post-test) as well as classroom observations. The results showed an increase in the average score of students from 55 (pre-test) to 75 (post-test cycle I) and 87 (post-test cycle II). Students become more active and enthusiastic in the learning process. The application of the snake and ladder game makes learning more interactive and fun, thereby increasing students' understanding and retention of laboratory materials. These findings are in line with previous research that shows that game-based learning can improve students' motivation and learning achievement. In conclusion, the application of snake and ladder game-based learning in chemistry learning is effective in improving learning outcomes in the introduction of laboratory tools. These innovations are recommended to be applied more broadly in science learning to encourage active learning and improve learning outcomes, and further research can be conducted to examine its application to other topics or contexts.
