Abstract

The phenomenon of bullying is still one of the serious problems in the school environment that has a wide impact on the psychological, social, and academic development of adolescents. The bullying cases that occurred show the fragility of the character development system in educational institutions. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between Islamic character education and adolescent social behavior and bullying prevention. Islamic character education is seen as an important foundation in forming the noble morals, empathy, and social responsibility of adolescents. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal design. The subjects of the study were 42 Islamic Religious Education teachers from MA/SMA equivalent and MTs/SMP equivalent in Jakarta who were selected by random sampling technique. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire with 24 statement items compiled based on variable indicators of Islamic character education, adolescent social behavior, and bullying prevention. Data were collected through Google Forms and analyzed using Pearson correlation tests as well as multiple regressions with the help of the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between Islamic character education and adolescents' social behavior (r = 0.458; p = 0.002) and with bullying prevention (r = 0.434; p = 0.004). Simultaneously, Islamic character education and adolescent social behavior contributed 26.3% to bullying prevention efforts (R² = 0.263). These findings confirm that the stronger the application of Islamic values in schools, the better the social behavior of adolescents, and the more effective the prevention of bullying. This study recommends the integration of Islamic character education in teacher learning, habituation, and example to create a religious, safe, and bullying-free school environment.
